Bar Association Announces Officers For 2012-2013
Daniel K. McCarthy Voted Association President
(ALLENTOWN, PA) The Bar Association of Lehigh County held its Annual Dinner Meeting at the historic Barristers Club in Allentown on Thursday January 12th, 2012 to elect its new slate of officers for the 2012-2013 year.
Daniel K McCarthy of Davison & McCarthy PC is this year’s President, with Mr. Robert M Knauer of Knauer & Davenport serving as President-Elect and Mr. Gavin P Holihan of Law Offices of Gavin P Holihan PC serving as Vice-President.
Hon. William H Platt of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania has been elected Treasurer, and Mr. Zachary J Cohen of Lesavoy Butz & Seitz LLC will serve as the Association’s Secretary.
Mr. McCarthy has practiced law in the Lehigh Valley for over 30 years and has assisted corporations, developers, municipalities, entrepreneurs and other individuals with their complex legal matters. His practice concentrates in real estate law, municipal law, land use and zoning, administrative law, estate planning and administration, business collections, construction law and commercial litigation
In addition, to the officers stated above, the Bar Association of Lehigh County elected Mr. Patrick J. Reilly of Gross McGinley LLP to the Board of Directors.
The Bar honored John L. MacGowan, Esq., Hon. Arnold C. Rapoport and Richard W. Shaffer, Esq. for 50 years of practicing law.
The keynote speaker for the event was Mr. Lee Cockerell. Cockerell is the former Executive Vice President of Operations for the Walt Disney World® Resort and author of best seller "Creating Magic." He addressed over 160 attendees on "Lessons in Leadership, Management and Service Excellence.”
The current Board of Directors includes Ms. Eleanor M. Breslin, Mr. Robert E. Donatelli, Ms. Elizabeth R Graver, Mr. Jeffrey L. Greenwald, Mr. Edmund G Hauff, Mr. Andrew D Hoffman, Mr. John D Lychak, Ms. Susan G Maurer, Mr. James B Martin, Ms. Vanessa M Nenni, Mr. William H Platt II,Mr. Erich J Schock, Mr. David S Smith, Mr. James F Swartz III and Hon. Michele A Varricchio.
About Bar Association of Lehigh County
The association was officially chartered in 1905 "to advance the science of jurisprudence and the administration of justice, to encourage a thorough legal education, to uphold the honor and dignity of the bar, to cultivate social and professional association among its members, to assist the courts in the orderly and efficient administration of justice and to perpetuate the history of the profession and the memory of its members within this judicial district." Today, the association maintains offices and meeting facilities at 1114 West Walnut Street in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Services include Continuing Legal Education, a Lawyer Referral Service, Lehigh Law Journal publication, and Barristers' Club banquet and meeting facilities.
