Dear Member of the Bar Association of Lehigh County:

As a follow-up to the November notice regarding Identification Cards (ID) for access into the Lehigh County Courthouse, the process has been finalized.  In conjunction with rules established by the Court of Common Pleas, members of the Bar Association of Lehigh County must follow the below procedure in order to obtain an identification card.

Please note that members must remain in “good standing” (i.e. Membership – Dues Paid) both with the Bar Association of Lehigh County and the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. Failure to remain in good standing will result in immediate loss of all privileges associated with the identification card.

To obtain a Lehigh County Courthouse ID:

1.Visit the Bar Association of Lehigh County (BALC) Main Office between 9:00 AM & 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday, to receive your letter certifying BALC Membership signed by the Executive Director.  You will also be given an application and copy of the Courthouse weapons policy.   This information will not be mailed, faxed or emailed.  It will not be distributed to administrative staff, colleagues, etc.  Each Member must appear in person to obtain these documents.

2.Complete required information and return to Lehigh County Courthouse – Sheriff’s Office.

3.The cost for the ID card is $10.00. Make checks payable to “The County of Lehigh.” Please apply in person between 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday- Friday.

The IDs will be good for one year and will be automatically renewed based upon a list of members in good standing with the BALC which will be prepared and transmitted annually (no additional fee).  The IDs will allow you to bypass security at the courthouse during business hours only.   These privileges are only available to Bar Association of Lehigh County members and no other attorneys will be able to obtain one unless they are courthouse employees.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.  Again, many thanks for your continued membership in the BALC.

Best Regards,

Ray Bridgeman
Executive Director
