Since early 2007, Dan has served in his current role as executive director of the Bar Association of Lehigh County (BALC) in Pennsylvania, the premier industry trade association for attorneys and judges. In that capacity, his strengths in making both immediate and enduring contributions toward mission attainment and organizational success have been exemplified through the delivery of numerous record-setting results and groundbreaking "firsts." Within his first two years, Dan catapulted annual revenues, memberships, member event participation, and sponsorships by 40%, 17%, 60%, and 500%, respectively – each of which were the largest gains in the BALC's +100-year history. As a result, the BALC surpassed the $1 million mark in 2009 (also a first), despite the recessionary economy when the vast majority of similar associations experienced a marked decline in members, revenues, and support.

Other "firsts" Dan has delivered for the BALC include the association’s first-ever comprehensive affinity program (which he grew from startup to its present level of nearly 400 key business partners across diverse-industry sectors) and its first-ever competitive grant wins. In addition, Dan has launched major improvements/ expansions to BALC member events and marketing, fundraising, capital campaign, and development efforts and materials.

Prior to joining the BALC, Dan served as senior director of Creative Services for the Greater Lehigh Valley's Public Broadcasting Television Station (WLVT – PBS 39), where he oversaw the station’s marketing, programming, and engineering departments.

Excelling in this turnaround leadership role, Dan quickly restructured and re-energized a decimated team and restored full compliance with FCC regulations. He also launched new social media platforms and PSA campaigns, fundraising strategies, membership drives, and branded marketing programs that enabled the station to meet or beat "stretch" goals year-over-year in all key business metrics (including advertising revenues, donor support, membership base, grant funding, station ratings, and positive viewer response).

During his early career with the Leadership Institute (a nationwide nonprofit and nonpartisan leadership training organization), Dan rapidly advanced through a series of promotions. Initially recruited to serve as national field director of LI's Campus Leadership Program, Dan ultimately became the executive director of the Center for Print and Broadcast Media, the Employment Placement Service, and three LI divisions (Core Schools, Graduate Development, and Grassroots Activists).

While with LI, Dan secured a record-setting increase in membership and training seminar clients of over 40% in a single year. He also created and conducted acclaimed media, fundraising, and campaign management training to 9,000+ institute students (including many nonprofit organizations and more than 1,000 elected state and federal government officials), and he led the development of a series of Emmy-nominated and Telly award-winning educational media and promotional videos.

Dan served as one of the institute’s primary spokespersons advocating for a variety of national issues, including traveling to Europe in 2001 to organize and direct an international event on global warming in conjunction with the White House administration.

A prolific and sought-after public speaker, Dan has made hundreds of appearances on local and national TV (including MSNBC, Fox News Channel, "Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher," CNN, MTV, PBS, and Comcast Sports), in addition to presenting at numerous regional and nationwide conferences. His presentations have encompassed a wide range of topics crucial to successful nonprofit management, including utilizing new media and social networking, creating high-impact leaders, devising strategic and tactical communication plans, recruiting and motivating volunteers, and constructing comprehensive internet and traditional fundraising programs.

Beyond his many professional achievements and accolades, Dan is strongly committed to "giving back" to his community. Among his volunteer activities, Dan currently serves on the board of directors for The First Tee and on the advisory committees of the Coalition on Sport Ethics and the St. Thomas More Society (all of the Greater Lehigh Valley). He also has assisted various nonprofit startups and political campaigns on their development activities as a retained fundraising consultant.

Prior to transferring to Pennsylvania State University (where he earned a BS in political science), Dan attended the University of Buffalo for three years on a full football athletic scholarship.

Outside of his professional, volunteer, and public speaking pursuits, Dan enjoys serving as president and webmaster of his fantasy football site (www.FantasyTailgate.com), which now averages over 1 million visits per year.  On Friday nights during football season, you can find him on ESPN affiliate WPPA 1360, where he serves as a high school football color commentator.
